I am originally from Liverpool in the United Kingdom. I joined the philosophy PhD program at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 2025.
I work in philosophy of mind and feminist philosophy. In philosophy of mind, I am interested in the “Hard Problem” of consciousness and the metaphilosophical questions surrounding its demarcation. My work focuses on how the separation of “hard” and “easy” problems of consciousness constrains what methodologies are available to philosophers, which I contrast with methodological approaches in other areas of philosophy.
In feminist philosophy, I am currently developing work on the philosophy of childbirth, which is a largely underexplored area. I am particularly interested in what a “natural” childbirth is, given its rise in popularity and valorization. To this end, I explore topics related to the history of childbirth, autonomy, and the institutionalization of the birthing process.
Outside of philosophy, I enjoy playing video games and antique shopping.
