I am originally from Nepal, where I completed an MA in Psychology with a specialization in Clinical Psychology at Tribhuvan University. I later came to the United States and earned an MEd and PhD in School Psychology from the University of Missouri–Columbia. In Fall 2026, I began the doctoral program in Philosophy at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
In some ways, my path from psychology to philosophy feels like a natural progression. I was initially drawn to psychology by a desire to understand why people think and act as they do. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I began reading more philosophy and developed a growing interest in questions about ethics and justice. While completing my training in school psychology, I also began taking philosophy courses in preparation for eventually pursuing philosophy more fully.
I enjoy listening to people, reading across different traditions and disciplines, and spending time reflecting on how seemingly separate ideas might connect—a process I think of as manthan, or sustained reflection and intellectual churning. My philosophical interests are still developing, but I am especially interested in ethics, including animal ethics, climate ethics, and moral education. I am particularly curious about how ethics can move beyond abstract principles and contribute to genuine changes in how we think, teach, and live.
