Honoring Betsy Postow

Nearly two decades after the death of Professor Betsy Postow, the department honors her memory and lasting impact.
A plaque honoring Professor Betsy Postow hangs in McClung Tower.
The legacy of beloved Professor Betsy Postow, who served the Department of Philosophy from 1972 until her death in 2007, continues at UT.
Thanks to the Postow-Meagher Endowment, as well as the Betsy Postow Memorial Fund, the department is able to support numerous student scholarships every year.
Additionally, the Postow Memorial Fund for Excellence is now supporting an award for philosophy department faculty to help propel research. The first Postow Award winner is Professor David Palmer, who will use the funds to support completion of his book on freedom of the will.
We also are rededicating the Betsy Postow Reading Room in McClung Tower with a new plaque.
