Research Seminar

Sponsored by a generous grant from UT's Humanities Center, the "Freedom from All Sides" Research Seminar—which comprises regular faculty as well as lecturers and graduate students—met several times throughout 2014-15 to discuss works-in-progress related to the topic of freedom, construed broadly so as to include the various kinds or concepts of freedom and responsibility explored in ethics, social/political/legal philosophy, metaphysics, and epistemology.  Several members of the UT Philosophy Department shared manuscripts with the group, and in March the seminar hosted two distinguished visitors who shared works-in-progress with the group and also gave talks to the entire department: Sigrun Svavarsdottir (Professor, Department of Philosophy, Tufts University, "The Canonical Method") and Katja Vojt (Professor, Department of Philosophy, Columbia University, "Ignorance and Investigation").
